Growing up in the Northeast Kingdom in Kirby, Vermont Christina Houghton saw from an early age the importance of hard work, dedication and thinking outside the box. Kirby is a small town, Christina’s father, a road commissioner, her grandmother the Kirby Town Clerk, and her grandfather operated Houghton Hollow Farm. Christina saw firsthand that small communities rely on each other, have lots of responsibilities, must be creative when times are tough, yet still, sharing and making sure others have what they need. Christina meets every day with this same moral compass she was raised with. She is driven by making things better. Whether it is to clean up a business’s financials, to brainstorm or advise a problem, to train or teach business owners to be self-sufficient, or understand an aspect of accounting or finance, she is there to help. Christina believes in building trusting relationships, and fostering others thrive and succeed is incredibly rewarding to her. Over the last 18 years, Christina has built an excellent reputation as a business consultant, accountant/auditor, tax accountant, controller, and director of finance. Working in many industries including manufacturing, retail, nonprofits, government, and trades, she has a wide range of experience to offer. Her history of volunteering for numerous youth sports organizations as a coach, treasurer, and secretary, further demonstrates her commitment to her community. Throughout Brooke’s 20 years of professional experience, in a range of for-profit businesses, public administration settings, and the nonprofit sector---there is one common theme throughout her career: Service. She is passionate about serving others. She is passionate about sharing her skills and ideas with individuals and teams. She is passionate about building communities that thrive because of a healthy supporting infrastructure, especially small businesses and organizations that serve others. She is a business expert, committed to helping small and midsized businesses learn how to better manage their workflows, marketing and communications, finances, and day-to-day operations. She works with clients at MBS, to find and build efficiency, improve processes and procedures, and bring attention to the brand, business, or organization in a desirable and marketable way. In addition to her organizational qualifications, she takes great pride in helping businesses manage employees and employment relations, as a trained Human Resources generalist and meeting facilitator.
